JCCC Senior Day: Monday, October 5th, from 12:30 pm to 4:00 pm, for an in-depth Cavalier experience during our 2015 Senior Day event. Representatives from all over our campus will be lined up to talk to you.  You will learn about our admissions and enrollment processes, financial aid, as well as the academic programs and student services JCCC offers. During this event, you will also have the opportunity to tour our beautiful campus and meet with select academic departments.  Please visit us at www.jccc.edu/admissions/visit/event, click the “Event Registration” button, and reserve your spot.  You can also call 913-469-8500, ext. 4141 to make your reservation.

Shawnee Mission College Clinic  Make plans to attend the Shawnee Mission College Clinic on Wednesday, October 14th from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. at SM East High School. Talk to college representatives from over 200 schools. The College Clinic is the largest college fair in Kansas City!  It is free and open to all high school students and their parents.  More info and a list of the colleges registered to attend at: http://www.shawneemissioncollegeclinic.com/2015-colleges-attending/

The National Day of Testing is on October 14th. 

PSAT/NMSQT

The Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test will measure the skills and knowledge that are essential for college readiness and success.  By taking the PSAT in 11th grade, students may be eligible for scholarships, including the National Merit Scholars Program.

JUNIORS:  The PSAT will be offered to juniors on Wednesday, October 14th, 2015.  The fee is $16.

SOPHOMORES:  This year the district will test all sophomores on Wednesday, October 14, 2015.

FRESHMEN:  The PSAT will be offered to freshmen on Wednesday, October 14th, 2015.  The fee is $16.

The PSAT test will be offered here at Shawnee Mission North on Wednesday, October 14th.  All sophomores will be taking a district-provided PSAT.  Juniors and freshmen are also encouraged to take the test.  The cost is $16.  Students can sign up in the Student Services Office and can speak to their counselor if they need assistance.

Any interested junior or senior may get a pass from Student Services and attend with teacher approval. All college visits will be held in the Student Services Conference Room unless otherwise noted.

MISC

Class ring presentation to the sophomore class. 

On Thursday, October 1, Jeff Heline of Jostens will make a class ring presentation to the sophomore class.

A majority of Student pictures were handed out from picture day yesterday.  Everyone who hasn’t received theirs yet, should receive them in English class by Thursday. If you haven’t, please check with your English teacher and then come down to room 184. If you are interested in purchasing your pictures, there is information inside the packet you have received about either bringing in money to your English teacher or their is also information on ordering photos online. Your order should be completed online or turned into your English teachers by October 9, 2015.

Retakes for Picture day will be on October 13. If you would like to sign up for retakes, please look in your email for a form to complete.

Our late bus will begin this Thursday, October 1.  It leaves the circle drive at 4:15pm.  The bus is #131 and the driver’s name is Mary.  She is a regular North driver and also drives for Merriam Park.

Students must have a pass from a teacher to ride the late bus.  The intention of the late bus is to provide transportation for students seeking additional help/tutoring.  It is not for students who miss the bus intentionally/unintentionally.  Without a pass from a teacher, the student will not be provided a trip home
