Shawnee Mission College Clinic  Make plans to attend the Shawnee Mission College Clinic on Wednesday, October 14th from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. at SM East High School. Talk to college representatives from over 200 schools. The College Clinic is the largest college fair in Kansas City!  It is free and open to all high school students and their parents.  More info and a list of the colleges registered to attend at: http://www.shawneemissioncollegeclinic.com/2015-colleges-attending/

The National Day of Testing is on October 14th. 

PSAT/NMSQT

The Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test will measure the skills and knowledge that are essential for college readiness and success.  By taking the PSAT in 11th grade, students may be eligible for scholarships, including the National Merit Scholars Program.

JUNIORS:  The PSAT will be offered to juniors on Wednesday, October 14th, 2015.  The fee is $16.

SOPHOMORES:  This year the district will test all sophomores on Wednesday, October 14, 2015.

FRESHMEN:  The PSAT will be offered to freshmen on Wednesday, October 14th, 2015.  The fee is $16.

All Juniors and Freshmen interested in taking the PSAT may sign up in student services from today until Sept. 25th. The fee is $16.

Preview KU is an event that brings together accomplished college students, distinguished faculty, and influential alumni of KU to show students how becoming a Jayhawk can change lives.  It will be held at the Overland Park Marriott on Thursday Sept 24 6:15-8pm. Register online at http://admissions.ku.edu/visit/previewku

Any interested junior or senior may get a pass from Student Services and attend with teacher approval. All college visits will be held in the Student Services Conference Room unless otherwise noted.

SPORTS

The soccer games scheduled today, will be 5/7pm at the complex.

Girls Basketball and Girls Swim and Dive will be hosting a Spirit Night at Chik-Fil-A in Mission on Wednesday, September 30th from 4-9pm.  The 2 programs will receive a portion of the proceeds during that time, so be sure to eat at Chik-Fil-A that night and support Girls Basketball and Girls Swim and Dive!

CLUBS

Coalition will be meeting on Wednesday, September 23rd, in room 100 to discuss our first two service events. If you are interested in finding out more about Coalition or in participating in service activities, come to the Coalition meeting right after school on Wednesday in room 100.

2015-2016 Medical Science program tshirt.  

Can you draw ?   Are you creative ?  Would you like your work to live on forever ?  or, as long as the life of a tshirt anyway?

Get creative North and develop a design for the 2015-2016 Medical Science program tshirt.  No experience necessary!

Become famous or at the least, a celebrity in the Medical Science program!  SUBMIT YOUR DESIGN BY THIS FRIDAY!!

The Hispanic Heritage Program is scheduled for Today, September 24th in the auditorium during seminar. If your seminar teacher doesn’t sign up for this event, we have made available 200 individual passes for students who would like to attend. If you are interested you must sign up  in the cafeteria on, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, during lunch &/or before or after school in student services. You will be issued a special pass to attend this program. If you do not retrieve an individual pass or attend with your seminar teacher then you cannot attend the program.

MISC

Seniors, the first senior ad deadline has been extended to next Monday after school. Ad forms are available in room 184, the office and have been mailed home to parents of seniors. Completed forms and photos can be turned into the office or room 184.
