Shawnee Mission College Clinic Make plans to attend the Shawnee Mission College Clinic on Wednesday, October 14th from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. at SM East High School. Talk to college representatives from over 200 schools. “Attention Shawnee Mission North Indians. Need help with your math homework? Looking to review extra for an upcoming test? Come to the library after school from 2:50-4pm Monday through Thursday. Mr. Acheson or Mrs. Bledsoe will be available for tutoring to help you with your math goals. Come see us!!”

 

The National Day of Testing is on October 14th. 

 

PSAT/NMSQT

The Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test will measure the skills and knowledge that are essential for college readiness and success.  By taking the PSAT in 11th grade, students may be eligible for scholarships, including the National Merit Scholars Program.

JUNIORS:  The PSAT will be offered to juniors on Wednesday, October 14th, 2015.  The fee is $16.

SOPHOMORES:  This year the district will test all sophomores on Wednesday, October 14, 2015.

FRESHMEN:  The PSAT will be offered to freshmen on Wednesday, October 14th, 2015.  The fee is $16.

 

All Juniors and Freshmen interested in taking the PSAT may sign up in student services from today until Sept. 25th. The fee is $16.

 

Wichita State is hosting Discover WSU at the Ritz Charles in Overland Park on Monday September 21 6-8pm.  You can learn more about Wichita State’s academic programs and student involvement opportunities and visit with WSU faculty, staff and current WSU students.  Registration is required at wichita.edu/eventRSVP by Sept 15.

Preview KU is an event that brings together accomplished college students, distinguished faculty, and influential alumni of KU to show students how becoming a Jayhawk can change lives.  It will be held at the Overland Park Marriott on Thursday Sept 24 6:15-8pm. Register online at http://admissions.ku.edu/visit/previewku

Any interested junior or senior may get a pass from Student Services and attend with teacher approval. All college visits will be held in the Student Services Conference Room unless otherwise noted.

CLUBS

 

International Club will have its first meeting of the year today after school in room 261. All interested students should attend as we will be voting for club leaders and planning for the year.

 

There will be a Robotics meeting today after school in room 181, and Robotics has a fundraiser Thursday the 17th at the Mission McDonalds (6767 Johnson Dr) from 4pm to 8pm.

 

Equality Club Homecoming parade permission slips are due to Mrs. Miner by today, 3:00pm. Please make sure your permission slips are signed and turned in to Mrs. Miner (room 102) by the end of the day today!

 

Creative Writing Club will NOT meet this Friday after school due to the Homecoming Parade. We will meet again on Friday, October 2nd. Again, Creative Writing Club will NOT meet this Friday. Keep writing anyway!

MISC

 

The Homecoming dance is Saturday, September 19th. Tickets will be sold during lunch and after school September 14-18. They’re $15/single or $25/couple. If you’re bringing an out-of-school date, you must get a form from the front office. Bring your school ID to the dance—you won’t be let in without it!
