SM North relays today

North Relays, a historical track meet that has been going on for 62 years, continues the tradition on Friday, May 4.

Varsity Track and Field athletes within a 50-mile radius of North are invited to attend. A total of 38 different schools will be in attendance this year.

The medals given out to the top 3 winners in each event were designed by a former North student and have been used for many years.

Head Track coach Ryan Colburn said some of the best competition in the state of Kansas competes in the North Relays. He also said that he is really looking forward to seeing all the different athletes compete and strive to be the best.

Colburn has coached at North for the past 13 years and he said this meet has been a special part of his life and he takes pride in knowing that he is a part of its history.  He sees it as a huge honor to run this meet.

North Relays will begin at 3 p.m. on Friday and will go as late as 11 p.m.
