Cheerleading Tryouts Begin

This Saturday marks the beginning of cheerleading tryouts for the 2012-2013 school year. Tryout clinics will start 8-11 am Saturday and continue 5-7 pm Monday night. “Closed” tryouts will be held starting at 5 pm on Tuesday, May 1.

English teacher Kate Miner will continue her role as cheer coach for the freshmen girls next year.

“Cheerleading is fun because the girls make it fun,” Miner said. “They are goofy and have a great sense of humor about themselves.”

Whether or not students have cheered in previous years, Miner encourages them to try it out.

“People should come out for cheerleading to show school spirit, to have an athletic and fun outlet, and to share their time with other great people,” Miner said. “If a girl has never cheered before, it’s cool. She can expect to work hard, but have fun while doing so.”
