Upperclassmen Diagnosed With “Senioritis”

Most underclassmen have noticed the sudden change in seniors’ attitudes. This change can be attributed to the outburst of “senioritis”. It can be defined as the decreased motivation toward studies displayed by students who are nearing the end of their high school careers.

I know that personally, it has been a struggle to even wake up, come to school and work hard. When I get home at night, I can’t motivate myself to do my homework so I reward stuff to put on a piece of paper or continue to procrastinate by watching TV. It’s almost like junior year completely drains you and then once you are into your senior year, your classes aren’t nearly as difficult, so it’s easier to slack off.

Most seniors begin to feel this once they get back from winter break and they start counting down how many days until graduation or even just the last day of school. I know that I began counting down the days after first quarter.

As of right now we have 17 days of actual school and we graduate in a total of 34 days. We are almost there, but yet it seems like our heads are already locked on summer and a new beginning.

I know we will all miss SM North, but for right now, I think we can all agree that we are ready for the school year to be done and ready to move on to the next chapters of our lives.
