Tuesday, Sept. 6, kicks off the 100th-anniversary centennial events for Shawnee Mission North High School with the Homecoming Pep Assembly. The 2022 Top 10 Homecoming Candidates are

Friday, Sept. 9, is the homecoming parade, the pre-game tailgate and the football game. Students will use a modified T-schedule that is shown below.

Students will not be released until 12:15 p.m. unless they have administrative approval. The lower east lot will not be open for student parking as that is the location floats will line up prior to the start of the parade. 

The parade route has been changed to the south side of campus, which is behind the stadium along 61st street. The parade will begin at 1 p.m. Community members that wish to view the parade should park elsewhere not on school grounds, the parking lot will not be open

There will be a pre-game tailgate that will be run by the booster club and the Junior Class Student Council that will begin at 5 p.m. and will end a few minutes before kick-off. There will be a recognition of previous state champions between the 1st and 2nd quarters of the game. There will also be an abbreviated halftime performance along with the crowning of the Homecoming Queen during halftime. 

 

Saturday, Sept. 10, is another centennial event for the week with an open house for alumni starting at 9:30 a.m. to noon. Tours will begin at the Fieldhouse led by social studies teacher David Reichart and associate principal Jon Durham. Along the way, there will be performances by the Strolling Strings Orchestra at 9:30 a.m., a sketch comedy by A.R.T at 10:30 a.m., choir and NJROTC performances at 11:30 p.m., and dance, cheer, and drumline at noon. Sports, clubs, and activities will be in the Cafeteria from 9 a.m.- 1 p.m.  

There will also be student journalists interviewing former alumni about their favorite memories at SMN and sophomore ELA class projects on the history of the school will be on display along with historical photos. 

The alumni dance will be later Saturday night from 6-7:30 p.m. The student Homecoming Dance will begin after the alumni dance from 8-11 p.m. Tickets for the student dance are being sold during all lunches, $15 for singles and $25 for couples, though students who bring in 4 cans for the canned food drive will be given a $5 discount. Prices will go up at the door. 

 

On Monday, Sept. 12 there will be a Ribbon Cutting Celebration. The event will begin at 1:30 p.m. and last approximately 30-45 minutes.
