pH Productions Visits A.R.T.

On May 4, four members of pH Productions, a professional improvisational troupe based out of Chicago, Ill., visited the current A.R.T. Troupe and select members of the 2013 Troupe. During their visit, these members played warm-up and improvisational games with the students.

“It was really refreshing to go back over the basics of improv,” senior Ashley Wessling said. “Being seniors we tend to forgot how things are actually supposed to be done.”

Teachers agreed that the experience was beneficial for both troupes.

“It was great having them,” A.R.T. Instructor Maureen Davis said, “They helped reinforce all the rules [of improvisation] that we try to teach the kids in all of the drama classes.”

Engaging in these improv. games with each other creating a bonding experience for both the current and old troupe.

“I thought it was really neat to be able to play games with next year’s troupe,” senior Kate DeJarnette said. “It was a good experience for them, and for those of us who are graduating, it was a nice way to spend one of our last few classes together.”
