Art Teacher Receives Grant

“Jennifer Hudson (SMS) and I received a grant for 26 digital drawing tablets which will be split between the two schools and utilized in the art department next year,” Art Educator Cortney Doughtery said. “We hope that we will be able to purchase additional tablets in the future so that we will have a 1:1 ratio of tablets to computers but for now, this is a more than fantastic start!  These tablets are truly amazing and will be utilized in all art classes—not just Digital Media.  These devices are much more intuitive than a mouse making it easier for students to get their ideas out of their heads and onto the page, or screen if you will!”

Principal Richard Kramer agrees that the tablets will be a good thing for our students.

“It brings new technology into our building and gives our kids another modality to demonstrate achievement in the area of art and drawing,” Kramer said. “I like it because it can also be connected to the computers. I do think that students are drawn to that type of technology, where they will want to participate and it might even help us bring in and attract new enrollment into that area.”
