As temperatures begin to drop, the Shawnee Mission School District has implemented a new two-hour delay as Plan C for snow days.
Unlike Plan A and B, this new option allows classes to continue in person when they would normally have to cancel school. Plan C means that students and teachers would arrive at the building two-hours after their regular time. Students that normally arrive at 7:40 to attend their classes would now arrive at 9:40.
Along with the ability to continue studies on snow days, this new plan also aligns the district to the surrounding Johnson County districts, SMSD said in an announcement.
The two-hour delay includes no morning Center of Academic Achievement or Center for Technical Career classes and puts a delay on YMCA and JCPRD daycare.
