The season of giving

National Art Honor Society created a Christmas tree for Johnson Country Christmas Bureau’s “Festival of Trees”. The tree will be auctioned off with about 100 more trees, wreaths and centerpieces at the Overland Park Convention Center’s Holiday Mart on Nov. 19, 20, 21 and 22. SM North’s NAHS was the only high school program to participate in this program that benefits low income families in Johnson County.

The tree was made of metal donated by PVC Metal Works, who also did the construction.

“Students wanted to design a Christmas tree that didn’t actually contain a tree at all, more of a contemporary outline of a tree form, out of metal,” NAHS sponsor Emily Patterson said. “The tree was decorated with little paintings created by NAHS students and other repurposed art materials.”
