SMN Hires New Basketball Coach

Shawnee Mission North proudly announces the hiring of its new boys’ basketball coach. Coach Steven Stitzer comes to SMN from Hogan Prep Academy, where he has been the head coach for the past fourteen years. In those 14 years, Mr. Stitzer has a record of 273-120 for a .694 winning percentage and nine 20+ win seasons. He has taken his teams to the State Tournament five times with one 4^th place (2005), one 3^rd place (2008), two runner ups (2010 & 2012) and one State Championship in 2011.

Coach Stitzer was named the Missouri Class 3 Coach of the year in 2008 & 2011, along with being named the Missouri Sportswriters Coach of the Year in 2011.

He and his wife Laurie have been married 21 years and have two daughters, Lauren and Ashley.
