In honor of Superintendent Dr. Gene Johnson’s 27 years of service to Shawnee Mission, and upcoming June 30, 2013 retirement, the Shawnee Mission Board of Education and Shawnee Mission Education Foundation announce the Johnson Fund.
Monetary gifts to the Johnson Fund will bridge the gap for children living at, or near, poverty level with school related expenses K-12 and provide all-day kindergarten scholarships for families who can’t afford tuition.
“Our students come to us from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds with varied life experiences. It is very important to me for every student to have the resources needed to compete on a level playing field,” says Dr. Johnson.
