The North Swim and Dive team had a rather successful meet Friday night at Mission Trail in Olathe.  We finished in 2nd place behind a very strong Olathe East team.
There were some very exciting races, including a new State consideration time for Lair Heslop in the 100 Butterfly (1:00.60)!  Right after that, Erik Hydeman swam another State consideration time in the 100 Freestyle (53:23)!  Next was the 500 Freestyle, where Cody Sarras swam it for the first time in years and missed a State consideration time by only a few seconds, swimming a 5:37.33.  Josh Herron demolished his best time in the 500 by 17 seconds!
Next, the 200 Free Relay of Jacob Roemer, Keighan Miller, Michael Armstrong, and Ian Lloyd swam a State consideration time to finish in 2nd place!  In the 100 Back, Hydeman dropped another second off his P.R. and swam a 1:01.22.  In the 100 Breaststroke, Roemer easily swam a season’s best time in his 100 Breaststroke to take 2nd with a personal record time of 1:07.73.  Jake Croston also set a P.R. in the breast with a 1:14.17.  Ian Lloyd, in his first 100 Breast in years, had a fantastic race with a time of 1:15.01.
The final thrilling event of the night was the 400 Freestyle Relay, where SM North (Heslop, Miller, Sarras, and Hydeman) chased down Olathe East in the final 50 yards to overtake the Hawks for
It was a great night of racing for many other Indians as well, including Jullian Watkins, Charlie Kaifes, Miles McLenon, Marc Thompson, and Dakota Vaughan.
Great job Indians!  The next meet is next Friday night as the Indians head to the Sunflower League Championships in Lawrence.
