Attention SMSD: Cancel school for the World Series parade
November 2, 2015
This is the first time in 30 years that the Royals have won the World Series, which means this is the first (and maybe only) time that many of us school aged kids will ever experience this kind of event. Many of my peers as well as parents (who experienced their World Series win in 1985), have already expressed that they will be skipping school to go to this huge event with their family in friends.
With the low attendance rates of teachers and students I’ve experienced after our huge postseason wins, or the lack of effort by both teacher and student those days, it would be wise for SMSD to cancel school to avoid the problems that come along with this.
This is a huge deal to us as students and as a community, this is a time we can come together and celebrate something that is a big deal to our city and will be for a very long time.
The announcement for whether school will be canceled will come at 12 p.m.
UPDATE: School is canceled on Tuesday, Nov. 3 for the World Series parade. Thank you, Dr. Jim Hinson.
