The Price of Gaming
Word is getting out that the online shopping mega man, Amazon, is about to buy the online streaming gaming site, Twitch, for a whopping $970 million. There is nothing wrong with the number as this is a real thing. After many groaned about the crisis of Google possibility buying Twitch those talks seemed to have vanished like a ghost with Amazon now in the lead. Some speculate that this purchase was Amazon’s answer to Google’s YouTube service, especially after a more active ad campaign.
Personally as a fan of the online gaming-verse this is great due to the fact that Google, YouTube, and gamers haven’t always been so good. Relations also have been extremely strained, at times, due to YouTube’s copyright system not being able to determine whether or not something is fair use, like TotalBiscut’s video review over a game that he rated poorly.
As Twitch moves into the battlefield that is looming between Amazon and Google, many will probably hate changes that are almost guaranteed to happen with the service. Being open-minded though leads to the conclusion that Twitch is in good hands as one of Amazon’s biggest services is dealing with gamers. Since they know the market they can look at Twitch in a way that allows gamers and viewers alike to be happy in what they do.
