The League of Women Voters helped seniors in their government classes register to vote on Sep. 17.

The league, which originated to involve women more actively in politics, also sends representatives to high schools across the country to encourage students to register to vote.

“Young people have a lot of concerns,” co-chair of voter services Julie Lester said. “It’s important especially in this upcoming election for young people to register to vote.”

Senior Gerardo Munoz was one of the students who registered to vote because of the League of Women Voters.

“I wanted to register to vote because everyone should have a voice in democracy,” Munoz said. “Isn’t that what our country is all about?”
