School will be starting one hour later starting Sept. 14. Late start Thursday will mean that school starts at 8:40 a.m.. It will still end at the normal time, 2:40 p.m..
The schedule is modified so that the normal hour and a half seminar becomes a 25 minute advisory time on Thursdays. Because of the late hour start students will be able to come to school later and be able to sleep in. Buses will run their normal routes so students that ride the bus will have to stay at school for the extra hour in the morning.
Late starts allow teachers to have time to collaborate together and work on improving the learning environment.
“Our school district is committed to what’s called a PLC, a professional learning community,” Principal David Ewers said. “Teachers that teach the same subject work together to collaborate and decide what’s going to be taught, how it’s going to be taught, and how they are going to measure student achievement.”
The last late start of the school year will be April 4, 2023.
