After over 140 mascot suggestions were submitted, the final three were announced and the school has entered the last step in the SM North mascot redesign process. 

The three finalists for the new North mascot are bison, coyotes and buffalo.

The finalists were determined based on the associated point values and ratings from the mascot preference form.
