Hawkeye Review
So far, in my opinion at least, Marvel’s spin-off miniseries featured on Disney+ have all been hit or misses. WandaVision was great, while The Falcon and the Winter Soldier was a solid “meh”.
Marvel’s newest miniseries features and is based around its namesake and, in my opinion, one of the most underrated Avengers: Clint Barton A.K.A. Hawkeye. Season 1 will have eight episodes in total, and 3 are currently out, with the fourth airing Wednesday, Dec. 8.
I’ve actually really enjoyed this series so far, it features familiar characters like Clint, played by Jeremy Renner, and references to familiar MCU movies, such as the death of Black Widow.
It also includes some fresh faces that are new to the MCU, including actress Hailee Steinfield.
Steinfeld plays Kate Bishop, a driven young woman who has idolized Barton since he saved her life in her childhood, and who has trained herself to become a gifted archer, perhaps even rivalling Barton himself. Bishop is seemingly hinted to eventually become the next Hawkeye after Barton (or maybe that’s just wishful thinking on my part)
The series also stars Tony Dalton, Vera Farmiga, and even Florence Pugh, who plays Yelena Belova in the 2021 Black Widow movie.
The show even includes a particular golden retriever dog named Lucky whose main trait is how much he loves pizza.
I won’t go too far into the plot (no spoilers), I encourage you to watch the first three episodes of Hawkeye yourself and form your own opinions.
