SMSD cafeterias will temporarily stop serving lettuce following an advisory from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on April 16.

The advisory, which can be found at the link below, warns of an E. Coli outbreak that has been linked to chopped romaine lettuce. The CDC has yet to determine where the lettuce originated or the brand it is associated with.

Until the CDC publishes further information, SMSD Food Services has decided to discontinue the serving of romaine lettuce in the district.
