NJROTC competed this past weekend in a Regional Qualifying meet for the NJROTC National Academic, Athletic and Drill Championship in Oklahoma City. The Indians  finished  first in all 11 events of the competition out of ten teams, making this the seventh straight year the Indians have won this qualifying meet.  The victory gave the Indians a spot in the Regional Championship which will be hosted by  North on Feb. 16. North finished the competition obtaining the maximum score of 5,500 points. Here is a breakdown of each event:

In the 16 member (eight  boys and eight girls) sit-up event, the Indians completed 3,937 sit-ups while the second place team completed just 1,704.  In push-ups North completed 972 compared to the second place team’s 608.

The top five performers are always recognized in the athletic and academic events. North had three top five finishers in both academics and  female sit-ups, female push-ups the top four spots, male push-ups thee of the five spots went to North and male sit-ups four of the tops five spots went to the Indians.

Next up will be the Area Nine Regional Championship on Feb. 16 here at  North.  The Indians will be looking to be crowned the Regional Champions for the seventh straight year.  A victory or second place finish ensures the Indians their eighth consecutive trip to the National Championships in Pensacola, Florida on Apr. 12 -13.
