SM North principal Dave Tappan has announced he is leaving the district following the end of this school year.

“I am reaching out to each of you to inform you that I have recently accepted the assistant superintendent position at USD #416: Louisburg Public Schools, beginning July 1,” Tappan wrote in an email to school staff on March 13.

Tappan has been at North for two years following a one-year stint as associate principal at SM West. Before that, he had worked in the Louisburg School District from 2002-2015, serving first as associate principal and then as principal at Louisburg High School.

“I’ve loved my time in the district and I’ve loved the incredible staff, school and students,” Tappan said. “I found this opportunity and thought it was best from a professional and personal standpoint.”

The job listing for principal at North has not yet been posted.
