New Superintendent

The Shawnee Mission Board of Education has announced their pick for the new superintendent following the retirement of Superintendent Jim Hinson in 2017.

This came after the top three candidates were brought in on Feb. 10 to have an open forum with members of the community. Community members could then leave feedback to aid the board in their decision.

“We are very grateful to the greater Shawnee Mission community for all the input, engagement and insight into our search process as we moved through each step over the past months,” BOE President Brad Stratton said.

Ultimately, the board chose Dr. Michael Fulton, the superintendent of the Pattonville School District outside St. Louis.

Dr. Fulton’s contract includes a base salary of $250,000 in addition to a monthly car allowance and 31 days of vacation. He will assume the role of superintendent on July 31, 2018.
