Choir holds their banquet, teacher receives honors

On Monday April 30, choir students met in the auditorium for their annual choir banquet. The night was filled with solos performed by the seniors. But this banquet was different than most since choral director Patrice Sollenberger planned to retire.

The first half of the banquet was mainly for the seniors, but the second half focused on Sollenberger.

After teaching for 21 years at North, Sollenberger was given many honors, the choir room has now been named the Patrice Sollenberger Choir Room. In addition, a scholarship named the Patrice Sollenberger Leadership Scholarship was awarded to senior Elizabeth Nickolett.

“It is an amazing honor,” Nickolett said. “Solly is such an inspirational and fantastic person. Being given an award in her honor and name is the greatest thing I could ask for. I am so proud to have my name be the first on the plaque and inspire future excellence in the department.”

Seniors Jeremy Evans, Krista King and Dakota Jafferis were also awarded scholarships from the choral department.
